Who is Lynx Emissions? How long have you been in business?
We are a company based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. We started as The DPF Company in 2019 and re-branded to Lynx Emissions in 2024 when we saw an opening in the industry to improve how DPFs are cleaned and the stigma around DPFs. We have a passion to help fleet owners and owner operators find new life from their DPFs and get the most out of their filters.
Why do I need to clean my DPF?
It is important to have your DPF cleaned as recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle to ensure your aftertreatment system continues to operate smoothly.

If maintenance on the DPF is ignored, it can cause expensive and unexpected downtime. If you are experiencing excessive regeneration, or your unit feels sluggish or low on power?

This is an indication that your aftertreatment filters may be plugged and need to be cleaned. DPF’s, DOC’s, SCR’s and EGR’s can all be cleaned.
How often do I need to get my filters cleaned?
It will depend on what the manufacturer requires or recommends and will also depend on how your equipment is being used (highway driving differs hugely from city driving).
Does Lynx Emissions clean one boxes?
Yes, we do! We have restored several one box systems. We have a process for testing, cleaning, and restoring key areas of your aftertreatment system. Our service includes multi-point inspection, DPF restoration, cleaning DOC's and SCR's, and cleaning and reparation of bungs and sensors.
Is it possible to clean a DOC?
It will depend on what the manufacturer requires or recommends and will also depend on how your equipment is being used (highway driving differs hugely from city driving).
Is it possible to clean a SCR?
Yes, we can clean your SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) filter on our Silver Service which restores it back to 80 to 85% and includes a 6-month warranty.

Please be aware there is no way for us to test the SCR. We do not recommend using our Gold Service on your SCR because it would ruin the precious metals in your SCR and it would no longer perform correctly.
What differentiates Lynx Emissions from competition?
We offer a unique cleaning solution using Ultrasonic technology. It restores components to OE specifications, resulting in better fuel economy and useful life from the DPF filter. We offer superior DPF cleaning services as an alternative to costly replacements.
What is an Ultrasonic Cleaning service?
Our proven Ultrasonic cleaning method utilizes proprietary high frequency sound waves at millions of impulses per second to break down the built-up soot and ash. Our specially formulated solution flushes particles away and keeps them from adhering back to the cell walls. Lynx Emissions offers superior DPF cleaning and restoration services as an alternative to costly replacements.
Are there any product/service guarantees or warranties?
Yes, there is. If we cannot clean your DPF filter, you do not pay.
We have a 1-year warranty guarantee on our Gold Restoration Service. Silver Services comes with a 6-month warranty and our Bronze Services comes with a 3-month warranty.

*Terms and conditions apply.
What services do you offer?
We offer three service levels for filter cleaning. Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Bronze: air knife, advanced regen, and 3-month warranty*
Silver: air knife, advanced regen, solution flush, 6-month warranty*

Why is the restoration of the filter more expensive than the standard service?
With our Gold Restoration Service, your DPF will go through an extra step - what is known as the ultrasonic step. The Gold Service takes more time with the ultrasonic step vs. the traditional clean (blast and bake) and it is well worth paying the extra because it restores your filter to like new condition.

What does a thorough DPF inspection process include?
We believe a thorough DPF inspection involves a visual inspection, flow test, pin test and light test to ensure DPF filter integrity and that the filter has been returned as close as possible to its original factory condition.
What does an effective cleaning process include?
The typical cycling of regens will be continuously leaving an ash residue in the filter. This ash mixed with the heat and moisture from the exhaust will bake that ash into the filter. While traditional blast and bake methods of cleaning are effective at removing some of this material, it can often become heavily impacted if the filter has not been cleaned regularly. Through extensive research and experience we have found that ultrasonic technology combined with a pneumatic aqueous flush followed by kiln drying is the most effective way as restoring the DPF to 98% of its original condition.
Will a properly cleaned DPF perform as well as a brand-new model?
If your filter has been restored using our Gold Service, it should perform as well as a new filter. Our Gold Service will restore your filter to like new condition meaning that it should last as long as a new filter.
What is your gold service?
Our Gold Service is the best and most recommended process for DPF Cleaning. The 4 step Gold Service Restoration process includes an extra step known as ultrasonic restoration which will restore your DPF filter to like new condition, up to 98% of OE specifications and comes with a twelve-month warranty. Ultrasonic Restoration is, by far, the best industry leading DPF cleaning practice that includes a guarantee clean and a one-year warranty for diesel particulate filters.
Can you replace my DPF filter if it can’t be cleaned?
Yes, we have new aftermarket DPF’s for sale if your DPF is cracked, damaged or can not be restored. Contact our team to find out what we have in stock.
What is the difference in price when choosing between cleaning my DPF and replacing it?
The pricing range between these two options will be very significant.

A DPF Restoration on our Gold Service is significantly less than a new replacement DPF. The cost will depend on what kind of vehicle you have, however it will most likely cost you thousands of dollars.
What happens to the soot removed during cleaning?
Soot and/or ash that is removed from filters during the cleaning is collected in our dust collection units and disposed of in accordance with government regulations in each local jurisdiction. Where possible we recycle/reuse any waste by-products to reduce the environmental impact diesel engines have on the environment.
How do I know if I need a DOC Replacement?
A rule of thumb is if the truck is doing multiple regens (4+ per week), there is a high chance your DOC needs replacing. We cannot test DOC’s ourselves, however if you notice your vehicle doing multiple regenerations in a short period of time, this usually means precious metals are no longer working.
What happens if my EGR is badly plugged?
EGR’s are known to get very plugged and we will run your EGR through our Gold Service two times if required to clean out as much debris as possible. When we do this, we only charge for one clean, not two even though we do run it through two times. Please be aware that we do not have a way to test EGR’s.
How often do I need to clean my DPF, DOC, SCR or EGR filters?
It will depend on what the manufacturer requires or recommends and will also depend on how your equipment is being used (highway driving differs hugely from city driving).
Is the Ultrasonic cleaning service more expensive?
With your Gold Service, your filter is restored with four different steps including ultrasonic cleaning. While the initial unit cost is higher, you can calculate the difference in cost over the life of the filter here. You only pay when your DPF filter passes. There are no cleaning costs for any failed DPF filters. Gold service includes a 12-month warranty.
Why should I clean my DPF instead of removing it permanently or replacing it?
Removing the DPF from your aftertreatment system can be a legal issue depending on where you are from. In some Canadian provinces, it is mandatory to have a DPF filter as a part of your aftertreatment system. Having your filters removed or “deleted” could lead to unexpected charges.
How long does it take to clean and restore a typical DPF filter?
Typically, 24 hours. We offer a rush service if you require. Contact our team to find out more.
How long does the Ultrasonic Restoration service last for? Does it last longer than regular cleaning?
The Ultrasonic Restoration should last as long as a new DPF filter. The Gold service will restore your filter to like-new condition.

Regular cleaning or also known as blast & bake cleaning will clean a filter without doing the ultrasonic step, meaning there could still be some debris left in your filter and that it will clog up faster.
Are there particular preventative maintenance practices that will help to maximize the intervals between active regens?
Regular engine maintenance is largely the biggest factor in ensuring the best performance from the DPF. Restriction from dirty air filters, worn components etc. are all factors that will increase soot loading of the DPF. Low-ash engine oils are always a recommendation as they lower the residual ash deposit in the DPF through the regen process. There are some newer products on the market today that are known as FBC (Fuel Borne Catalyst) that significantly improve engine combustion and lower soot loading of the DPF.
Drivers who continually delay an active regen will eventually find themselves at the controls of a de-rated engine. What kind of damage could such delays cause to the DPF itself?
Delaying regen is never a good idea. The results typically are sustained higher back pressure. This will cause accelerated wear on the turbo seals, valves and increase the risk of fracturing/cracking in the DPF filter. Sustained high levels of soot loading will also increase the risk of uncontrolled regen or DPF melt-down which will obviously destroy the DPF.
Which upstream issues tend to represent the most common challenges when it comes to the life of today’s DPFs?
Primarily we see oil leaks poisoning and deactivating the precious metal coatings of the DOC. This then reduces the DOC’s ability to convert gases and the DPF’s ability to regenerate the soot into ash, thus driving up the need for active regens.

DPF service life can be limited by coolant and oil leaks, failing fuel injectors, and even dust in an air intake.
Where are the first places a technician should look if a unit is recording an unusually high frequency of active regens?
The DPF service life can be limited several ways, we would recommend a mechanic should look at the coolant, look for oil leaks, failing fuel injectors and even dust in the air intake system.
What is the best way to determine the proper cleaning intervals for a DPF?
There are many factors at play here. Drivers in general are familiar with regular periodic replacement of their air filters, oil filters etc. Unfortunately, it is accepted practice in the industry that you wait until you get warning lights on the dashboard before servicing the DPF. We would highly recommend operators review the work cycle of their vehicle (City Truck vs Highway Truck) and schedule DPF cleaning into the preventative maintenance schedule.
Is there a case to be made for cleaning the DPF more frequently as a preventative measure? Would it extend the unit’s overall life or increase effectiveness while in service?
We believe that regular cleaning and servicing of the DPF filter does extend the overall life of the filter, will reduce the risk of filter failure, and will lower the risk of other engine component failure because of lower overall back pressure.
The effectiveness of the passive regeneration process is largely dictated by factors including exhaust temperature and idle time. Are there particular spec’ing decisions or preventive maintenance practices that will help to maximize the intervals between active regens? Will options like a coolant heater help in some situations? Maybe a low-ash engine oil to limit the volume of ash associated with lubricant additives?
Regular engine maintenance is largely the biggest factor in ensuring the best performance from the DPF. Restriction from dirty air filters, worn components etc. are all factors that will increase soot loading of the DPF. Low-ash engine oils are always a recommendation as they lower the residual ash deposit in the DPF through the regen process. There are some newer products on the market today that are known as FBC (Fuel Borne Catalyst) that significantly improve engine combustion and lower soot loading of the DPF.
